A Decade of Service with the British Antarctic Survey
The EMS wireless pager system has been providing ship-wide security messaging for the crew of the research vessel RSS James Clark Ross for more than 10 years. As part of the British Antarctic Survey fleet, the RSS James Clark Ross spends up to 18 months at sea, much of the time in severe weather conditions. The ice-breaking vessel is fully equipped for advanced geophysical studies and is home to a crew of 28.The EMS wireless pager system is interfaced to the ships security system and in the event of an alarm or fault condition, transmits text messages to the onboard pagers carried by key members of the crew. Only one 500mW radio transmitter was required to provide complete coverage of the entire vessel – an amazing feat considering the metal construction of the ship!
In the 10+ years the system has been operating in this hostile environment, it has only been necessary to replace one of the pager receivers, and that was inadvertently damaged.
EMS has been manufacturing wireless fire and security systems for over 40 years and this project underlines the company's reputation for reliability and quality. This is also backed up with an industry-leading 5-year warranty on all of its products.
5 - Year Warranty
EMS has introduced an industry-leading full 5-year warranty on all of its products(excludes batteries). This extended warranty confirms the field proven reliability of EMS products, and firmly establishes radio based systems as an ideal solution for long term fire and security applications.
Green Credentials
Environmentally friendly, EMS systems use fewer raw materials, create less building damage and can easily be installed in areas where dangerous materials are present.
